Therefore, it’s important to do your research to ensure what they say is what they do. But we understand that if you’re in a pinch for time because of the stress of moving, it’s easier to just get told where to donate. We recommend GuideStar and Give.org as sites that can help you check the legitimacy of a charity, then you can decide for yourself where to donate!
Doorstep Service
When it comes to moving, we understand that time is hard to come by plus handling all of your other responsibilities such as your job, this can be a challenging time. If you need more flexibility and don’t have the time to pack your donations and bring them to a local charity, there are other options for you. We have found that Donation Town, Pickup Please, and Furniture Banks all are websites that work with nonprofits to take your things straight from the comfort of your home and give it to people in need! Now you can stay home packing your valuables while also giving away the non-necessities and make someone’s day in the process!
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Not all items are able to be donated! There are some guidelines about the quality of the items you can donate, and it’s possible some of your items might not make the cut. Don’t fret though! We have an entire guide about selling your items, but there are also ways to recycle them! Stores such as H&M and North Face will take your old clothes and give you discount vouchers for their stores, Best Buy and Microsoft will take your old electronics, and if you have a lot of boxes after the process of your big move you can always use Recyclebank which will offer local discounts and deals anytime you recycle.
