Hire Professional Commercial Movers
Any time a business has to relocate, it’s considered a commercial move. Included in this category are office moves, health care moves, manufacturing facility moves, warehouse moves, restaurant moves, retail moves, and more.
Commercial moves are generally more complex than household moves, due to the nature of materials being moved and the fact that moves generally need to be accomplished with an absolute minimum of business downtime. Whether you’re moving to a better location in the neighborhood, are changing boroughs, or are moving your business a long distance, you want to work with an experienced commercial moving service.
Commercial Move Logistics: Scheduling
When we talk about business moves, the first thing we want to know is the type of business you’re in and when your business’s busy period is. Imagine what a nightmare it would be for an accountant or tax preparation business to change locations on April 14th! Ideally, business moves should be scheduled in such a way as to avoid disrupting your normal operations.
The time of your move impacts the cost of your move. The first and last weeks of the month are always the busiest time for moving companies, as both commercial and residential lease agreements tend to begin or terminate on the first day of the month. If at all possible, you’ll want to schedule your commercial move for the middle two weeks of the month.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are often the slowest days of the week for moving companies, making them the ideal time to schedule a commercial move. Building regulations often require commercial moves to be scheduled before or after business hours: Shleppers will work with you to get your business move completed on time and schedule!
‘Tis the Season for Moving
Most people move during the summer months. May through September is when moving companies will be at their busiest and charge the highest rates. If you decide to move during the summer, make sure you book your move well in advance so you can move during your ideal time period. If you prefer to move during the off-season, you will likely pay less for your move and have more scheduling options. You’ll also have more team members at your disposal if needed because they won’t be on summer vacation.
However, if you are moving in a cold climate where it snows a lot, you might want to avoid moving in the middle of winter. Hazardous conditions could make moving more work than it’s worth. You might be better off choosing to move during the spring or fall if you want off-season prices but don’t want to deal with the snow.
A word about holiday moves: it is absolutely possible to schedule a commercial move during holiday periods if that makes sense for your business. The costs for these moves are generally higher, and it is imperative that they are scheduled well in advance to ensure adequate staff is available.
