The Shleppers team has been around for quite a while. Not so long that we were able to hang out with Leonardo da Vinci in person, mind you, but we’ve got enough time in that we can appreciate the truth in his words, “I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough, we must do.”
That’s the philosophy we bring to our charitable work. Giving back to the community is incredibly important to us. Rather than just write a check and say we’re done, we’re much more hands on with our giving. We’re a moving company, with skilled moving professionals, lots of trucks, and secure storage. When we can use these assets to help people in need, that’s what we do!
During the tragic events of September 11, Shleppers provided manpower, trucks, and storage at Chelsea Piers. When Hurricane Sandy rolled through our region, Shleppers was there again, helping people who needed immediate assistance coping with this natural disaster. When people are in the midst of a catastrophe, simply being able to be there and answer at least one part of the huge challenge they’re facing is an honor and privilege. Being able to put our packing and loading expertise to work has never felt so good: through our efforts, families were able to salvage and store their treasured possessions.
Moving is a big challenge when you’re expecting it! Having an unforeseen event prompt this activity can be very unsettling. Because we’re experts at handling the schlepping, we could do the heavy lifting for these families and let them focus on what they needed to do to move through a traumatic time.
Sometimes disasters take place on a smaller scale. Shleppers proudly partners with the Rabin Medical Center, March of Dimes, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and many other healthcare organizations to raise awareness and provide support for families in need. We demonstrate our commitment to the community by showing up and doing the heavy lifting when it’s needed. Sometimes love looks just like hard work!
