Every household move involves packing up the bathroom. There’s a certain amount of temptation to pack the bathroom last, especially if you have kids -after all, they are the ones most likely to have the sort of adventure that requires serious clean up – but there are some moving tips you can use to streamline the bathroom packing process:
Manage Your Medicine Cabinet: Set aside any medications your family members take on a daily basis, as well as those that are used regularly – things like headache remedies and antacids. Consider what’s left in your medicine cabinet. Toss any items that are expired. Pack what’s left in a clear plastic tote. This tote should fit inside a moving box.
About Partially Used Products: Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and other self-care products aren’t exactly cheap, which may mean you’re reluctant to toss partially-used bottles. If you’re planning on moving these, wrap them in paper towels, then seal them inside plastic bags, then pack them upright in a moving box with plenty of packing material to keep them upright and in position. Label the box clearly to show which way is up.
The Best Way to Pack Towels, Washcloths, and Other Linens: Use a sturdy cardboard moving box to pack your towels, washcloths, and other bathroom linens. Garbage bags may be convenient, but they offer little to no protection to their contents, and if the bag is compromised, your bathroom linens may get damaged or stained during the move.
Fragile, Decorative Items Need Care: It’s not unusual to find fragile decorative items in the Queens bathroom. Pack these items like glassware, wrapping each item in protective paper or bubble wrap, and then positioning them inside a box with packing materials so they don’t knock against other objects or the side of the box. Bathroom linens, especially wash cloths and hand towels, can work very well as packing materials.
Bring Everyday Essentials With You: The items your family will need on an everyday basis, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, hairbrushes, razors and shaving cream, prescription medications and more should be packed in a bag that can travel with the family. This is true whether you’re moving a long distance or staying in the neighborhood!
