MOVING HACKS- Clever Tips You’ll Wish You Had Thought Of

We’ve often heard from new clients who haven’t moved with us before, that the stress of moving without a professional company was overwhelming enough to make them lose their head!

For that reason, here are 5 clever moving hacks you’ll wish you had thought of to make your move with Shleppers even easier:

Boxes

Color coding your boxes for each room will make unloading quick and easy! For the ultimate convenience, consider cutting upside-down triangles on two parallel sides of each box for DIY handles and easy lifting!

Drawers

If you’re bringing bedroom, kitchen or bathroom drawers with you, whose contents don’t necessarily need to be emptied, consider wrapping them (well) with plastic wrap! This way, emptying and restocking their contents is one less thing for you to do!

Liquids

Remove the lids from any liquid toiletries if possible and cover their openings with plastic wrap, then screw the lids back on. Though Shleppers will do everything possible to keep your items safe, this extra precaution will keep the contents of these items from spilling during the move.

Plates & Breakables

You probably already know that wrapping your plates well is the best way to keep them from breaking. Packing plates vertically will make them even less likely to break… and don’t forget to mark boxes with breakables as “Fragile”!

First Day Home

We love the idea of packing a “first-day” box for your move. Fill this box with any necessities for your first day at home, when getting settled in is your main priority. We recommend putting paper plates, plastic utensils and cups, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shower, hair care products, and a pair of pajamas in your first-day box. This way, you have everything you need to eat some dinner, wash up, and hit the sheets (most likely on a mattress on the floor) on your first night home.
