Small City, Big Dreams
If you’re planning a move to Hudson, NY, you’re probably looking forward to small-town living. With a population of around 6,000 and a total area of 2.3 square miles, Hudson is comparable to the small hometown of the main character in any Hallmark movie and has all the quaintness of one as well. The city has been working its way back from a bad reputation in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a place of drinking and gambling. Hudson now boats over 70 shops, many represented by the Hudson Antiques Dealers Association after having drawn a group of antique dealers in the mid 1980s with its architecture. This business revival stimulated tourism in the area and attracted residents. Hudson has now become known for its arts scene, restaurants, galleries, nightlife, and of course, antique shops. If Hudson’s surprising and heartwarming backstory is enough to make you want to visit, here are some of its best-known attractions:
Hudson To-Do List

The market still goes on indoors during the winter months as well. Along with the farmers market, Hudson is home to the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) Museum of Firefighting. It is one of the largest fire service-centered museums in the world. Located on the grounds is the FASNY Firemen’s home, which is the first nursing home for firemen in the country.
As far as arts and entertainment, Hudson is home to Hudson Hall, an arts venue on Warren Street in the city’s center. It is New York’s oldest operating theater.
