Shleppers is headquartered in NYC, where we’re proud to offer local and long-distance or cross-country moving. We hold licenses to move in New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, and California, in addition to New York.

Is Shleppers licensed and insured?
Yes, Shleppers is fully licensed and insured to ensure a safe and reliable moving experience. We’re also accredited with the Better Business Bureau, American Trucking Association’s Moving & Storage Conference, and New York State Movers & Warehousemen’s Association

Can you provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI)?
Yes, we can provide a COI upon request. Please contact us for more details.

How far in advance should I book my move?
We recommend booking your move at least several weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. The sooner the better, to ensure that we’re available for your big day.

Do you provide moving services on weekends and holidays?
Yes, Shleppers operates seven days a week, including weekends and most holidays.

What happens if it rains or snows on my moving day?
Our team is prepared for all weather conditions and will take extra precautions to protect your belongings.

Can you move specialty items like pianos or antiques?
Yes, we specialize in moving delicate and specialty items, including pianos, antiques, and fine art.

Do you transport motorcycles, lawn mowers or generators?
Yes, we do. All gas items must have the gas emptied before pick up. These items may also need to be wood crated for transport.

Are there items you cannot move?
For safety and legal reasons, we cannot move hazardous materials, firearms, ammunition, flammable liquids, explosives, pesticides, paints, aerosols, motor oil, acid, cash or jewelry.

What’s included in your basic moving services?
Our services include professional wrapping, basic furniture disassembly/assembly, loading, transportation and unloading.

What long-distance moving options do you provide?
Shleppers offers door-to-door long-distance moving services, ensuring timely and safe transport of your belongings to your new destination. Learn more about long-distance moves.

What is a long carry?
A long carry is the distance from the door of the truck or tractor trailer to the door of the apartment(1st 100ft are free then we charge for over 100ft).


Pricing & Payment

Are your estimates binding, or could the price change?
Because we value transparent pricing at Shleppers, our estimates are binding, if there are no changes in the scope of the move. If there are any last-minute changes that you need to happen for your move, your Shleppers sales rep will make sure you know the cost ahead of time so there are no surprises.
Do you charge extra for stairs or walk-up apartments?
Additional charges may apply for walk-ups or multiple flights of stairs. Ask for details during your estimate.

Are there additional fees for last-minute moves?
No
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept major credit cards, certified checks, or cash as payments.
Is a deposit required to book my move?
Yes, a $100 deposit is required to secure your moving date.

When is the balance for the move due?
The move balance is due on the 1st day of your contracted delivery window. It will be automatically charged to the card on file.
Are there cancellation or rescheduling fees?
Cancellation and rescheduling fees may apply based on the timing of your request. Contact us for specifics.
When is a redelivery charged?
A redelivery is only charged if you confirm with the office/driver you will be available to deliver your items, then we arrive, and you are not there or unavailable to receive your items.
Should I tip my movers?
Tipping is optional but greatly appreciated. A common guideline is 15-20% of the total moving cost for local moves and 5-10% for long-distance moves.

Before the Move

Do you provide packing supplies?
Yes, we offer high-quality packing supplies. A wide range of moving boxes and packing supplies including packing paper, bubble wrap, tape and shrink wrap.

Do you offer packing and unpacking services?
Yes, we provide full-service packing and unpacking options to make your move seamless.

What should I do with fragile or valuable items?
We recommend transporting valuables like jewelry and important documents yourself for added peace of mind.

Do I need to empty my drawers before moving furniture?
Yes, it’s best to empty drawers to ensure safety during transportation.

Should I be present during the move?
Yes, having someone present is important to answer questions and supervise the process.

Can you disassemble and reassemble furniture?
Yes, we offer basic furniture disassembly and reassembly as part of our moving services for items like beds, dining tables, kitchen tables, and mirrors. We also offer carpenter services for more complicated furniture. Contact us for more details.

How long will my move take?
The time depends on the size of your move, distance, and complexity. We provide time estimates during the booking process.

What happens if something is damaged during the move?
If an item is damaged, please notify us so we can address the issue. Our customer services/claims department will assist with any issue post-move.

How do you handle fragile or oversized items?
We use specialized packing techniques and materials to ensure the safe handling of fragile or oversized items.

Can you make multiple stops during my move?
Yes, we can accommodate multiple stops. Let us know in advance for accurate planning.
What should I do if my elevator reservation changes on moving day?
Contact us as soon as possible so we can adjust our schedule accordingly.

Can we ride in the truck? Can my cat/dog ride in the truck?
No, we can only transport household and commercial goods only. We cannot transport humans or pets.
