Moving can be stressful on your own, but as a full-service moving company, we know that moving with pets can add to that stress 10-fold! Plus, pets can experience stress too, so we’ve put some tips together to reduce the pressure on all parties involved when moving.
Creature of Habit
Domesticated animals such as dogs and cats are used to routines and schedules. They enjoy consistency and the more their routine changes, the higher their anxiety can go. Make sure that you keep the essentials consistent, this being their feeding schedule and walks or bonding time.
Looong Naps
Playing with your pet before a move is the best thing to do before a road trip or flight! Taking them to the dog park, a doggy playdate, or just interacting with other people and pets can help them burn some energy before the long travel ahead. If your pet is tired, the more likely they will take a nice long nap on the way and will be easier to manage!
Pet Friendly
Something to keep in mind is investing in some travel pet items! This includes collapsible food and water bowls, some toys, a blanket, treats, etc. that will help them feel more snuggly and at home on the way with this unfamiliar journey! If you’re road-tripping it then make sure that your hotels are pet friendly and that you are ready to secure windows, doors, and balconies in your new place upon moving in! There are lots of things to consider, but the greatest joy is having them by your side through all of it!
