Because we care SO much about making your moving experience as painless as possible, here are some of our best moving hacks to assure your electronics are as safe as can be during your upcoming move:
Prepping the Goods
– Take the batteries out– There’s nothing worse than leaky overheated batteries when moving!
– Eject the DVD’s, CD’s, etc. – Eject to prevent scratches, and then tape the systems closed so no damages in accidental opening occur.
– Remove the Toner and other Ink Cartridges– Store them in a separate plastic bag.
Packing the Goods
– Be sure to wrap up and twist tie your chords neatly! This will make sure the wires don’t get tangled in the jumble of the move.
– When boxing your goods, be sure to cushion the bottom of the box with towels or bubble wrap.
– Never use newspaper to pack screens! This can easily scratch the screens.
Labeling
– It’s VERY important to label boxes, however, when moving electronics, it’s even MORE crucial to label the wires!
– Simply writing on some masking tape and wrapping it around the wire can save so much time and frustration when trying to figure out what the wire is supposed to connect to later on!
– Alternatively, purchase some colorful stickers or post-it notes and put one sticker on the wire and the corresponding sticker on the machine/device
Unpacking
– Don’t throw away any bubble wrap or wrapping material without double checking!Mouse’s and other small devices are easy to miss.
– Unpack one electronic at a time! By doing this, you’ll be sure not to mix up any wires and make the reinstalling process a breeze.
