When you need to move your home or business, you want to choose reliable, professional movers who will do the job properly. One way to find a mover who meets that standard is to look for moving companies who have earned the American Mover & Storage Association’s ProMover Certification.
The American Mover & Storage Association is the independent industry group that works diligently to protect and improve the moving industry’s reputation. They educate their members in best practices, keep member moving companies appraised about new rules and regulations, and provide a level of oversight to promote accountability and standards.
The AMSA ProMover Certification is designed to help the public find reliable professional movers who can be trusted. To qualify, moving companies had to maintain a Satisfactory or better rating with the Better Business Bureau. Beginning in September 2018, the standard will be tougher: moving companies who have a ProMover Certification must also have a Good or better rating with the Better Business Bureau.
When rating businesses, the Better Business Bureau considers the size of the business, the number of customer complaints, and how the business acted in order to resolve those complaints. They also watch to see what type of complaints there are, if there are recurring problems, and if the business acted in good faith. Additional factors include the amount of time a company has been in business, the transparency of their business practices, and if a business possesses all the necessary licenses and maintains compliance with government regulations.
